In January of 2011 I started a project to send a box of cameras up on a weather balloon to capture spherical images and video of the ascent and descent. I solicited assistance from friends and family and received some in the form of cameras. It was up to me to do the rest.
Over the course of two years I went through several payload iterations, developed some custom electronics (I'm a software guy, so that was a bit of a learning curve), acquired my amateur radio license, launched three balloons, and got some amazing results.
